The Marrakech Marathon is well known as one of the fastest in the world. Make a new personal record ..?? and come with us to run the (Semi) Marathon of Marrakech.

In January climate is ideal. In the morning it is even fresh while temperature is slowly climbing towards 20 degrees Celsius; ideal for running. Fastest time in 2012 was 2:08:51 for Stephan Tum from Kenya. For the semi marathon the fastest time was 1:01:59.

from Thursday January 23 up to Thursday day January 30

Morocco Jebel Toubkal is a walking mountain and .. over 4.000 meters / 13.123 feet high. For ''low-land" people such a summit of 4.167m./ 13.671 ft. is quite high and you might feel the altitude the day you are really going up. For a good adaptation to this high altitude - the last night before you 'summit' you sleep at 3.200m. / 10.499ft. - we advise every-one to go for the trip with (minimum) 6 days of walking. During this 6 day trek you get a good acclimatization: only the first day is mainly descending and you start up at 2.600m. in Oukaïmeden. Then each day you start to 'conquer' one of the high passes in the Atlas mountains which take you to nice views and another colourful, hidden Berber valley. Good acclimatization certainly makes it easier to reach your goal. And ... a trekking through the colourful Berber valleys on it's own is already very worthwile. A trekking to Morocco Mount Toubkal is more than just a mountain; take the time to enjoy the beautiful Atlas mountains and the welcoming Berber people!

Nous commencons dans la ville magique de Marrakech (prononcer: Marrakesj) pour faire un tour très, très, très special dans les montagnes rurals de Haut Atlas.

VTT au Maroc c'est plus que VTT dans les montagnes, tu entre un vie et un monde complètement different que 'chez nous' avec tous les couleurs et douceurs. Dans les montagnes nous sommes loins des villes modernes et nous voyagons dans des regions loins et isolés. En passant des vallées et des villages pittoresques.

 

Nous prenons quelquefois le goudron, le plus part de notre route c'est sur des pistes et des traces; quelquefois même pas plus que un petit sentier pour les mules.

Le tour est organisé complèt avec des picnics biens et une voiture suivante pour notre bagage. Il y a un tourleader Européen qui pedale avec nous.

Tous les jours il y aura une montée et heureusement une descente aussi. Pour les fortes il y a une montée 'zig-zag' optionel le jour 4. Et jour 5 nous montons le col Tizi Mezzik a pied pour continuer sur le col sur la bicyclette et faire une descente adorable dans le vallee de Azaden. Pour monter le Tizi Mezzik notre bicyclettes sont transporter sur des mules ...

We are walking more then 250 km to cross the high atlas mountains from the east to the west; one of the most beautiful trekkings Morocco you can find. Colorful mountain valleys, small villages far away from everywhere, we meet a world with ancient Berber culture and traditions. It seems that time has been passing by.

We start in the Valley of the Ait Bouguemez, the valley of 'the happy people'. Slowly we walk towards the most beautiful viewpoint in th eastern High Atlas mountains - the summit of Djebel (mountain) M'Goun (4.068m). Taking our route far from the tourist trails we finally arrive at the high Yagour plateau and we stay high in the mountains to reach the feet of Jebel Toubkal. The highest summit and mountain top in Morocco we keep for our finish: 4.167m. above sea level. A 22 day long trekking with bivaques in the middle of nature.
