Special for Christmas: a 12 day round tour starting on wednesday Dec. 28 in Marrakech.
In 12 days you make a big roundtrip throug the beautiful South of Morocco up to the Sahara desert. And there is time for 2x 3 days easy walking or rock climbing. You start in Marrakech, the pearl of the south and this adventurous tour takes you even deeper into the south. Crossing the colorful High Atlas mountains, visiting old Kasbah en Skour alongside the old caravan road where the camels from Tombouctou to Fès passed by in earlier days. On the south and more dry side of the mountains there are palm valleys and great, great canyons with impressive rock formations. At two special ‘spots on the road’ with huge mountain walls we will stay a couple of nights. A local guide will take you for day walks to explore the beautiful nature. And ... if you are a specialist; these spots – Todra Gorge and Amellago - are ideal for rock climbing. Climbing routes from 4a up. After the Todra Gorge we go deeper into the mountains to reach the Gorges d’Imiter and the tiny village of Ammelago. Here you stay in a traditional Berber guesthouse: “Bonjour le calme” with a very nice garden and nice views. In this rural mountain area you make more guided day walks. Nature will surprise you. And the atmosphere of the place you are staying as well: 'c'est vraiment le calme'. As you do not want to miss the Sahara desert you have to go. Near the village of Merzouga you find the famous and huge sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. You can make a camel trip and even sleep a night in a nomad camp. If you prefer a hotel room (with a swimming pool !) just near the dunes, this is possible as well. Anyhow you should not stay too long in bed as the sunset and the sunrise in the desert are amazing. With a 1000 of stars ... This is something you do not want to miss. In 12 days you make a complete and magic tour. The return trip from the Sahara takes you through the much older mountains of the Anti Atlas. Passing by the desolate landscape near Tazzarine. Did you see the movie “Babel” ?. Your last night is in the Tamnougalt oasis with date palms. On the last day you pass Tizi-n-Tinififft (1660m) and the Tizi-n-Tichka (2260m) on your way back to Marrakech.
