Morocco Ski & Tour ski

First snow has fallen in Morocco High Atlas mountains. In the Toubkal national park where Jebel Toubkal (4.167m. / 13671 ft) is the highest summit and also the highest point in North Africa. The Toubkal area is the only region in the entire continent of Africa which has good conditions for ski mountaineering. January, February and March are good. Around Jebel Oukaïmeden there is a small ski resort with some ski lifts, elsewhere you have to walk up with your tour ski's in the fresh snow. Ski mountaineers have been visiting the area for decades. Despite the Sahara Desert so close, the High Atlas has substantial winter snowfalls, and although there are no glaciers since the Ice Ages there are a few permanent snowfields on shaded north slopes. The standard trekking and skiing routes to Toubkal begin from the village of Imlil in a valley to the north, and climb to the Neltner Refuge, a hut at 10500 ft (3200 m) just west of Toubkal. Routes ascend to the summit via the north and south cwms, and numerous possibilities for high ski traverses also exist. The region is also home to one of the few ski areas in Africa (and certainly the best), Oukaimeden, located in a high valley about 10 miles northeast of Toubkal, with several lifts which run from 8500-10600 ft elevation (2600-3250 m).

Ski in Morocco?
Yes, this is possible!
The High Atlas Mountains just south of the magic city of Marrakech have high peaks upto 4.000m. Highest summit is Jebel Toubkal - 4.167m. - which you can conquer with your tour ski's.
For more simple excercise you can go to the small ski resort of Oukaïmeden (2600m.) where there are some lifts. Snow conditions in February and early March are most likeable. Make your travel to Morocco real special with a combination of skiing in the moutains and making a camel trip in the Sahara desert.
